Aphids are sucking insects that have a large number of natural enemies including lacewings, hoverflies, ladybeetles and parasitic wasps. They are mostly noticed and a problem at times of the year when natural enemies are not largely present or if the use of pesticides are killing their natural enemies.We notice aphids on a lot of vegetables and also on some juicy flowering plants. Hanging yellow sticky traps above susceptible plants to catch the first generation of winged aphids flying in.

These traps attract small flying insects by means of the unique yellow colour. The insects are caught and retained on the surface by a coating of powerful 'no-mess, dry-touch' insect glue.
The yellow traps are recommended for whiteflies, the winged forms of aphids, sciarids and certain other leafhoppers and leafminers.
